The Flower Press
Spring 2006
by Claire Roorbach Olson
You see more smiles now that the days are longer, and the sun is shining - that's what spring is all about. Conversations are turning to gardening rather than snowshoveling. What fun it is to see the daffodils and tulips poking through last fall's leaves, and watch the buds on the trees start to change color and swell. My special spring dates are: May 1st the Marsh Marigolds are blooming in the low, wet areas, and the leaves on the trees have unfurled by Mother's Day.
If you haven't had a chance to walk through our greenhouses this winter, you will be in for a big surprise when you visit us this spring. We're in a remodeling mode and will be for probably another year or more. In order to make our workshops and seminars more comfortable for participants, we have removed all permanent benches from one half of an entire greenhouse replacing them with movable benches and "potting stations" making the area completely adaptable to any use. You'll love the colors SueZ and Bob have been painting the area. We have had two seminars in this area already this spring and it worked great. By the Garden Center season (beginning April 22) we will be transformed - we hope you like it.
