Our annual Green Plant Sale is scheduled for the end of this month - Thursday, January 20 thru Sunday January 30. This is a very popular event each year possibly because the greenhouse is so inviting in the wintertime. This year we will be having other activites scheduled over the 10 days, mainly on the two weekends. The Greenhouse will be transformed into a tropical spa-like setting with refreshments to carry out that theme. Workshops for kids and adults, re-potting of green plants, Orchid care seminar, herb basket making, etc. We'll have our reference books available - time to start thinking about your garden this spring.
In the greenhouses now you will see baby Geraniums, hundreds/thousands of them. The "mother plants" are grown in Mexico (the perfect climate for Geraniums). Within two days the cuttings are taken, sorted, packed, shipped thru the port of Miami, and planted (called "sticking") here in Manitowoc - "sticking" is done on Tuesdays if you'd like to see how it's done. You are always invited to browse in the greenhouses - see what's growing, ask questions, breath the clean, fresh air.
Roorbach's will again be sponsoring a day trip to the Chicago Flower Show. We will be going on Tuesday, March 15th and Friday, March 18th. Space is limited and seats are sold on a first come/first served basis. Call for further information: Barb at 682-7711 x113.
